| Emancipated Third Fleet convict. He arrived in Sydney, per the Active, in 1791. Samuel became a prosperous publican, businessman and rural landowner following his "emancipation by servitude" in 1797. (He had been convicted in London's Old Bailey in 1790 on breaking and entering and theft charges.)85 |
