| Notes for Hyam HYMAN |
Although no certificate so far, his grave shows that he died on 18 June 1860. Terry Newman has sent me a photo of the monument over his grave at Raphael's Burial Ground, Lidcome which is now destroyed.
Assuming that he came to Australia with his wife he must have died shortly after his arrival.
It is said that he dropped dead whilst buying gloves to go to a wedding. His wife was eating an egg at the time she was told this news. It is said that she never again ate one! This might actually apply to his son Lewis Hyam Hyman.
From his certificate of death it would appear that he died in George Street, and as there were no witnesses an inquest was held. Details of this inquest have yet to be found. No announcement of his death has yet been found in the Sydney Morning Herald and no information regarding his funeral, however the film of the Herald for that day was virtually impossible to read, so I might have missed it. Try again. |
