Although I have looked at the circular tree of the Jacobs family, I can't see any connection between this John Jacobs and the Jacobs who were in business with Alfred Hart. From the record of his death it would appear that he was born in Adelaide and that probably his father's name was Charles Jacobs and mother Elizabeth Joshua. Vic Deaths show his age as 71. SA Births have - 1. John Jacobs, born 9 December 1858 with father Charles; 2. John Alfred b 26.July 1906 father Alfred; 3. John Henry b 26 October 1885 father Edward. I suspect the first is quite likely correct.3
